Not posted for too long!

I haven't posted in too long!
I have been trying to do as much promotional work, contact making, website enhancing as i can these past couple of weeks which has worked out well and it is all coming together!

Also, I have some new news! I ordered a new camera last week, the Canon EOS 5D MK II (the upgrade to my 5d) as i really needed a new camera so i can use my 5d as a back up for the important shoots like weddings etc!

My new member arrived late afternoon yesterday, with the 100-400mm (f/4.5- 5.6L IS USM) lens, that i bought along with it!
The lens is taking a bit of getting used to - it is huge!! As i am used to working with my 24 - 105mm lens, the 100-400 is so heavy! I shall look like pop-eye by next week, no doubt!
It is also quite hard to keep steady when zoomed in at full length, but that won't take me too long to get used to! I would really like to pursue more sports photography! I really enjoy my equestrian events, and now that i have the perfect lens for it, I may just have to start doing some more! :)
Here are a couple of my test shots which i took this morning, of my own horses:

I can't wait to get cracking on photo shoots on monday with the new camera as I have some exciting new projects coming up!

More test shots will be posted up soon!

I have decided to create a blog in order to document photo shoots - mostly behind the scenes and describe the process of what goes on!
I shall start off with a recent shoot with Model, Amy from Nemesis Agency and Make Up Artist and Hair stylist Sian-Louise (who also did the styling for this shoot)
Amy and Sian had worked together previously but it was only the second time that i have worked with them both. The first time we did a photoshoot at a local country park near me which went very well! Here are a few images from the first shoot:

It was during this photo shoot that we were talking about new concepts that we would like in
our portfolios. I raised the idea I wanted to shoot a circus theme, which I had in mind for over 6 months, but had not found the right team to shoot with.. It turned out both Amy and Sian had also had this circus idea in mind for a while. Whilst I was searching for the perfect model, make up and hair stylist.. They too were searching for the right photographer to join them on the shoot!

A couple of weeks later we met up again in Lincoln for the circus shoot! After several emails to and from one another we had the perfect location, clothes, make up and hair styling for the Circus Theme!

I chose the location at a local park in Lincoln, which has a fantastic stone Lion and a rather colourful bandstand.. Perfect for Amy to model alongside! It gave a real 'ringmaster' look,
which is just what we were after!

For the shoot, I bought 6 Red and White balloons for just £6 from Clintons which were already in a row being used as a display! Sian-Louise bought the outfits along as well as props including the wig and top-hat!
We began with the first outfit which was a blue dress and started the shoot at the bandstand.. here are a few images:

Then we moved on to the second outfit which was the top hat and tails, over some spangly sequin shorts! We managed to lift amy up onto the lion, where she met rather a lot of creepy crawlies!! We also managed to influence some rather pushy parents to get their children to sit on the lion for a photo, after they had seen us doing it! Oops!

Here are some of the final photos:

We then finished the shoot off with a third and final outfit where we used more of the balloons..! Here is one of my favourites..

We did this shoot in about 2 hours and finished off with a nice meal at the Slug and Lettuce in town! Yum!

Incase anyone was wondering what happened to the balloons..

I shall be posting more images up in the next few weeks from up-coming shoots!

Bye for now!
